This is to commemorate the hard work and community spirit for the love of a little boy and his family in tragic times. Dylan is 2 years old and has been diagnosed with A.T.R.T (Atypical Teratoid Rhabdiod Tumour), a rare brain tumour. He has undergone surgery and several rounds of Chemotherapy which is leaving him very poorly. Unfortunately, his prognosis is not good and his family are striving to spend every moment with him. His brave parents, Donna and Andy, and Dylans 3 brothers are going through a very difficult time emotionally and financially at the moment.
Their friend, Katie Drew, set up a fundraising event to help the family, as Andy has had to give up work to help keep family life running as smoothly as possible for their other 3 boys, whilst Donna spends most of her time with Dylan in the hospice.
On Saturday May 15th, starting at 12 noon, the owners of The Rowbarge public house in St Johns, Woking, Nick and Anna Di Felice, agreed to give the use of their premises for a bungee jump and fun day event. The event was full of fun for everyone. Bouncy castles and play area to keep the children amused, tombola and raffle stalls, delicious barbequed food and cakes were available and an evening disco for everyone to let their hair down and boogie the night away. Not to mention the selfless souls who agreed to throw themselves out of a cage on the arm of a 180-foot crane, while strapped to elastic bungee rope (rather them than me).
With boundless amounts of energy, enthusiasm, love and generosity the fundraiser was an amazing success, helping to show that the community can pull together for one of their own. Funds were raised to help this family to cope at a very difficult time in their lives and with the hope that the healing process will be a little easier.
